Underground Mine Tour
Glengowla Silver and Lead Mines are a remarkable and impressive example of how part of our valuable industrial
heritage has been reclaimed, restored and transformed into an outstanding visitor attraction.
The mine is noted for it's rare and beautiful octahedral crystals of fluorite and quartz. Pitch pine timbers believed to be
brought back to the west of Ireland by the emigrant coffin ships are still intact in the mine today.

Sheep Herding Demonstration
At Glengowla we have a sheep dog herding demonstration, available if you book in advance on +353(0)872529850, people can
hand feed the animals and meet Bob the sheepdog, horses and donkeys.
We now have an undercover viewing area for when the weather is a bit damp.
Turf Cutting Demo
Available, also as an add on to the tour of the Mine, we have a Turf Cutting demonstration with an explanation of how peat is
formed, cut, stacked and dried
